Autumn is here and it already feels so different from all others we have had! Despite the beautiful shades of orange, yellow we may be able to see from our windows, do we actually take the time to appreciate it. Remind your customers and clients to get outside, take deep breaths in and finding beauty in the days turning shorter. No matter which restrictions are imposed in your local area, provide advice on how to best get organised and take care of each and everyone of us!

Our Head Nutritionist, Isabelle has put together a range of products you could recommend as definite keepers in your larders and home remedy cabinets.

Stress, Sleep and Mood Support

  • Supporting a healthy nervous system is ever so important. October is Mental Health awareness month and we know that any forms of physical or emotional stress can affect the way we live, sleep and react to daily matters.  Nature’s Answer Liquid B complex contains the essential B12, Thiamin and Niacin as well as Vitamin C in a simple daily teaspoon intake. B-vitamins can also be obtained through wholegrains such as brown rice, millet, barley as well as legumes such as beans and lentils. Seeds and nuts are also high in B vitamins. So make sure to keep those you in your larder.

  • As most of you know, Adaptogens support the body’s ability to adapt and cope with stress. From energy levels to a healthier skin, hormonal balance or sleep and mood. Maitake and Reishi are two medicinal mushrooms revered for their adaptogenic effects. Nature’s Answer Bio-pro Maitake offers a professional grade, premium quality of the highest level of efficacy. The extraction process used enables 3000mg of raw maitake to be standardised to 50 % of proteoglucan.

Other adaptogens that we also have in our portfolio include the range of certified organic OM Mushrooms; Nature’s Answer Astralagus and Ashwagandha amongst others.

  • Cannabidiol also referred to as CBD, is a well-researched natural compound found in the cannabis plant. The Kanabia CBD range offers a safe and authentic way of benefitting from the properties of the hemp plant on our endocannabinoid system. The latter is responsible for regulating our immune function, memory, motor control, emotions and response to pain.

Kanabia CBD can help relieve inflammation and pain, especially when feeling achy during the colder months. If on painkillers for the occasional backache, toothache or headache, CBD can be the ideal replacement while avoiding the side effects regular painkillers can create.

CBD can also help support a reduction in feelings of anxiety and low mood. Research has also supported the effects of CBD on our sleep and mood, which can be of great support during this Autumn. This is particularly true if struggling to fall asleep, switch off from work while we are still having to work and live in the same place, or having concerns about the future like so many of us.

Immune Support

Supporting our immune system is important, especially during the cold and flu season and the co-vid climate we are still experiencing.

Below are key products that we thought you ought to have in your rescue remedy cabinet.

  • Wellness Herbal Resistance Liquid can help build your resilience to infections out there. A blend of botanicals such as Echinacea, Elderberry, Goldenseal and Yin Chiao, a valued traditional Chinese herbal complex. Yin Chiao has traditionally been of use to help the body adapt to changing seasons. Useful to take at the first signs of an imbalance and adapt the dose as and when required.

  • Vitamin D can be obtained through some food sources, including mushrooms. If you have stocked the Bio-Pro Maitake that is great for mood and stress support but also for the immune system as mentioned previously. Shiitake is another mushroom referred to as the Chestnut Tree Mushroom. Contains essential amino acids and vitamins B1, B2 and D2. You can also find Shiitake in our Immuno-4 that can be taken by the whole family from the age of 6.

Vitamin D3 by Nature’s Answer is a highly absorbable and effective form, available in drops. Two drops provide 4000 IU and lasts 240 servings! Suitable to vegetarians, Nature’s Answer blends vitamin D3 with extra virgin oil for superior absorption. Free from allergens, sugars, sweeteners, artificial preservatives and flavours. It is an essential remedy to have for the normal function of the immune system and the process of cell division.

If a lower dose is preferred, Garden of life Vitamin D3 at a dose of 1000IU is available in spray form and is suitable to vegans as well. Blended with essential fatty acids such as organic pumpkin seed oil and cranberry seed oil, it comes in a delicious organic Madagascan vanilla flavour.

  • Vitamin C is an antioxidant nutrient that has been shown to have anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties. Its key effects include improving our resistance, thereby supporting our immune system. Replacing our depleted levels is also important. This can be due to stress, medication, a high intake of tea or coffee during meal times, certain digestive problems or even food allergies causing someone to avoid certain foods.

  • Supplements that support gut health have a huge role to play in the immune system. Making sure we also stock up on fermented foods, legumes, yoghurt with live strains of bacteria can all be helpful in supporting our microbiome.
