There’s no doubt that festivals are big business in the UK. Not only do the tickets and sundries set visitors back a pretty penny, but with the rise of “festival essentials” features in the media (blogs, vlogs, editorials, advertorials, you name it!) it would seem that consumers are buying into the trend more than ever.

Festivals have long been a great sounding board for getting messages across to the masses. Some of our industry’s key messages were heard loud and clear at last weekend’s Glastonbury. Particularly the ban on single-use plastic for the festival, which was supported by the nation’s treasure Sir David Attenborough. He turned up to give a surprise talk on the Pyramid Stage and urged festival goers to reduce their impact on the environment. In 2017, over a million plastic drinks bottles were sold at Glastonbury, so the fact that no bottles were sold on site this year is a massive step in the right direction.

Last weekend saw the culmination of Pride’s 50th anniversary celebrations, and the streets of London were heaving for the Jubilee-themed festival-esque street party.  Pride began in 1969 after the Stonewall riots in Manhattan, NY, as a demonstration demanding equal rights and whilst we’ve come a long way, there is still much more we need to achieve, which is why Kinetic are proud to support the LGBTQ+ community.

The festival season in the UK is a long one, running from June through to the end of September. If you’re looking for window display inspiration or to merchandise an area of your store in an original way, you might want to think about a “Festival Essentials” theme. Here, we’ve pulled together a few of our favourite festival essentials from the Kinetic portfolio. If you want some more ideas or inspiration, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
