Nutritionist advised products & expert tips to ease re-entry anxiety as we head back to 'normal' life.
Now recognised as a symptom after the global pandemic year, 're-entry anxiety' is putting mental and physical strain on over half the UK population according to research. Even after we have come out of lockdown, market research company, Ipsos Mori, data showed that 60% of Brits are finding it "harder to stay positive" and not feel anxiety day to day as opposed to before the start of the virus. As we head back towards a more 'normal' life, change is a known catalyst for experiencing an emotional rollercoaster which can develop into anxiety. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, women are more likely to suffer anxiety disorders than men.
How does anxiety affect the body?
Whilst anxiety is a normal part of life in small doses, in the short term, anxiety increases your breathing and heart rate, concentrating blood flow to your brain, where you need it. However, if it gets more intense, you might feel lightheaded or nauseous and even suffer panic attacks. When it gets too excessive or prolonged, it can have a devastating effect on your physical and mental health.
In house nutritionist, Ella Owen, explains: "In a stress response the sympathetic nervous system gets activated and the body produces a cascade of hormones, namely cortisol and adrenalin. It is sometimes called a ‘fight or flight’ response."
How can you address symptoms of re-entry anxiety?*
Step one: Support your nervous system
Ella Owen says, "In times of stress we tend to reach for processed foods, sweet treats, stimulants or alcohol, however these just increase the anxiety cycle. Focus on eating nutrient dense foods rich in vitamin C, iron, vitamin B12 and folate, which all contribute to normal psychological function, and therefore, support emotional wellbeing and a reduced stress state. Beyond re-examining your diet, support yourself with Kanabia CBD+ oil. Ella Owen continues: "CBD Oil has become very popular in the last few years, partly due to the recent scientific discovery of the endocannabinoid system within the body. The endocannabinoid system is thought to help regulate homeostasis, in other words, it has a role in supporting the natural balance within our body and mind."
Kanabia CBD+ is a Golden Harvest Premium Full-Spectrum Cannabinoid Complex, delivering a full spectrum range of cannabinoids in high quality, pure MCT oil. The MCT oil allows for fast delivery and increased absorption, and gives Kanabia CBD+ oil a clean taste. More than just CBD, this complex supplies more of the whole goodness of the natural cannabinoids (such as CBG and CBD-V) found in Golden Harvest hemp (without any psychotropic effects!).

Step two: Prioritise wellness
Take time to nourish yourself and practice mindfulness in your daily routine. Whether it be through meditation, talking to a friend to reframe ones thoughts on a difficult day or boosting endorphins through exercise. Step three: Build up your gut health
Nutritionist Ella Owen continues: "Normal serotonin and GABA levels are associated with mood balance. These are neurotransmitters responsible for helping us feel happy and relaxed. It is estimated that 95% of our serotonin lives in our guts. Research has linked the gut microbiome with a person’s quality of life and whether or not they experience symptoms such as anxiety."
